Tayfun Ugur graduated in 1976 from Institute of Science and Technology in University of Manchester, with a B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering (First Class Honors). Later he received a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university. In 1984, he earned his MBA degree from Istanbul University Institute of Business Economics.

In 1976 Tayfun started professional life as a Teaching Assistant & Project Engineer at Manchester University. Before returning to Turkey in 1981, he worked as a Technical Consultant for Techward Co. (Birmingham) and Research & Development Engineer for UK Department of Industry.

In Turkey he worked in sales and marketing at AEG Genel Elektrik and was the Finance Manager at Penta Foreign Trade. In 1989, he started operations of Hewlett Packard in Turkey as the Country Managing Director. Later in France Tayfun held the management positions of worldwide strategic planning, business development and customer support at the personal computer division of HP.

After returning to Turkey Tayfun was the Country General Manager of: Cisco and Sonera Zed. He also was the Vice President for Startegic Planning at Koc Information Technologies Group.

In 2005, he started British Telecom in Turkey as the Country Managing Director and later held the position of Regional Director for Eastern Mediterranean countries for 5 years. Currently Tayfun Ugur is working as company builder, developing a network of ‘new world’ and ‘old world’ resources in Turkey to facilitate clear vision, quick execution and rapid growth of start-ups and SMEs turnarounds especially in ICT business with a global paradigm.
