Roger is a fintech entrepreneur in the Chinese Internet Finance space based in Beijing. He is currently the founder of Pandai.cn, a peer-to-peer lending platform, with the sole purpose of making finance simple, safe and transparent. Since founding Pandai.cn, he as been a sought after paid consultant for top tier investment banks and private equity firms, and has been quoted in numerous media both global and domestic.

Roger’s sole purpose for coming to China was join the peer-to-peer lending aka social banking industry. He worked in venture capital at Cybernaut venture capital, founded by legendary entrepreneur Zhu Min (founder of WebEx), where he covered clean tech, financial services, TMT and the logistics industry. After conducting market analysis, he met all the players in the P2P space in China in 2008 and then decided to join CreditEase after one breakfast with the founder. During this time, the legitimacy and regulations of the industry were uncertain.

Before coming to China, Roger grew up in South Africa and studied in the USA where he attained his bachelors in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego specializing in telecommunication theory and his masters in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University, specializing in finance and entrepreneurship. During his time in the US, he was a student leader at IEEE UC San Diego (ieee.ucsd.edu), co-founded a web 2.0 social network (yelp + facebook + evite) in 2006, came top 10 in a China market focus business plan competition on P2P lending, a teaching assistant for cross-cultural design at the Stanford d.School and provided consultation for Intuit online finance division which led to the $300M buyout of Mint.com.
