Startupbootcamp Scale Osaka Mentor

Robert has spent over 16 years in Asia with stints in China, Japan and most recently Singapore. Originally from Los Angeles, after working a few years in the US, Robert moved to Japan, where he graduated from Waseda University before starting a career at the Swiss based bank UBS in Tokyo. When the British bank Barclays acquired Lehman Brothers, Robert was recruited to help build a brand new business function for the firm as it pursued its equity ambitions in the region. Most recently, Robert was the Chief Operating Officer for Barclays’ Treasury Investment desk for the Asia Pacific region where over 5 years he was instrumental in growing the team to be one of the most profitable desks in Asia.

Robert recently left his successful career in investment banking to pursue his passions in the education industry where he hopes that his new venture can provide opportunities for individuals without traditional education backgrounds to earn fair and livable wages.

Robert was a mentor at Startupbootcamp FinTech Singapore and is passionate about the role and benefits new businesses can have on society. While now based in Tokyo, Robert is excited to see Startupbootcamp Scale Osaka in full force in what he believes is one of the most promising cities in Japan.
