Michiel van der Veen is Chief Executive Officer of GenKey where his role is to lead the company.
In 2008, with a first round investment, Michiel founded priv-ID BV as a spin-off from Philips. In 2011, to accelerate the further growth, he successfully concluded the merger between priv-ID and GenKey and became the CEO of GenKey Group. Under Michiel’s leadership, GenKey, with offices in the Netherlands, USA and Ghana, has now grown to become the market leader for large-scale biometric solutions used in National Elections, National Health Schemes and National ID projects.
Prior to GenKey, Michiel worked at Royal Philips Electronics, where he was responsible for the biometric developments. In 2007 and 2008, he received from Philips, the distinguished employee award and the entrepreneurship award respectively.
Michiel is a dedicated entrepreneur with the vision, skills, and passion to successfully lead and grow high-tech companies. Michiel holds a MSc and PhD degree in Geophysics from the University of Utrecht (Netherlands), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich (Switzerland), respectively.
