Maria has been in the business of making sense of big and sparse data through analytics, and developing analytical products and tools that are easy to use, for 15 years. Her passion for creating something new from combining different data sources, or from unconventional uses of data, has provided numerous risk and marketing solutions to customers in the financial, retail, manufacturing, healthcare and TMT industries over the years. She has built comprehensive data analytics strategies that predict trends and demand for consumer products, trends in the credit space, patterns in fraud and other financial crimes, and global linkages and conditional models of macroeconomic growths and risks. She has built innovation teams that operated as startups for large companies, helping them find new markets through analytics-based prototypes. With an eye always on emerging data and technology, she is an advocate of startups, ensuring a better product roadmap through better awareness of their data’s value.
Maria currently oversees the business development, analytical services and innovations at twoMS.co, a risk and marketing consulting firm whose core values are focused on helping companies monetize their data, and innovate on analytics in order to grow their business while staying smart and proactive about risks. She is hands-on in all analytical activities and in advising startups on the predictive power of their data.
Maria graduated from UC Irvine and USC, with a PhD in Cognitive Sciences, and is an alumna of renowned global information and insight companies such as D&B, IHS and Deloitte. Her current research focuses on behavior shaping, decision-making and contagion in social media as it pertains to buying behavior, credit, payments and cybercrime.
