HENDRIKSE Business Law is a young law firm specialised in advising start-ups and small companies in their first stages of evolution. It stands for practical, solid, strategic legal advice on all aspects of the business, be it the organisational/legal entity set-up and shareholders’ agreements, the financing or the strategy for launching a new product in the market, or setting up the privacy and data protection framework for a new shopping basket. As a firm which started in summer 2012, it currently supports more than 13 small companies in various stages of evolvement, as well as advising on several large sustainability projects.

Top 3 Skills:
1. finding the “vice” in the business plan; the part of the plan that will entail the largest risk to success

2. IP
3. international roll-outs and their specific issues, from legal and cultural perspective

I’m a rare type of lawyer that loves commerce, is creative and very practical. I have built up my experience in both start-ups and small business (my husband is an entrepreneur) as well as having spent 16 years of my career as a lawyer in large corporates, fourteen of which in Philips. In those years I spent a lot of time perfecting my knowledge and skills on a broad range of subjects, taking responsibility for strategic alliances across the company from a legal perspective, managing all legal support internationally for the consumer electronics business and ofcourse, like any Philips lawyer, handling IP issues. I also took part in the Philips top potential programme which sent me to Wharton Business School for business education and gave me the opportunity to set up a new business with 8 colleagues whilst being mentored by teachers from the best the business schools have to offer. That broad experience gives me an excellent basis to add immediate value to the start-ups I support, and I love it! The enthusiasm and energy when the right team is working on the right proposition and then seeing it fly is what makes my day…
