Kazuo Funayama has experience working in the Government Affairs sector both in the government and a private company. From 2011 to 2016, he worked as a government official in the Ministry of Finance, where he engaged in setting up the government bond annual issuance plan and facilitating international finance debate in the G20 Finance Ministers Meeting. Since joining Google Japan in 2018, he has been working as a government relations specialist in the IT sector, especially in the security and privacy policy area. While closely relating with the JP government to advocate the viewpoint of a global company in the field, he has also been contributing to the development process of government policy, including as a Sub-Working Group member for formulating the Cyber/Physical Security Framework at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. He has a Master of Public Policy from the University of Tokyo, an MSc Economics from LSE, and an MBA from Oxford.
