Savvy in managing P&L with very high level of business acumen, his vast healthcare industry experience is built on solid ground with medical and leadership roles in major pharmaceutical companies like Merck, Sharp & Dohme, Boehringer Ingelheim, GlaxoSmithKline and Chiesi.
Kai has a track record in continously over-achieving sales and profit targets. During his career, Kai successfully managed brands / portfolios from launch to loss of exclusivity to generic phase in respiratory, cardiovascular, neonatology, transplant medicine, diversified portfolios; he held responsibility for business development, and closely collaborated with R&D.
Being a digital transformer, Kai has re-shaped pharmaceutical companies’ organizational design to better grasp future opportunities (i.e. established business units around customers, generated market access capabilities as well as customer-centric Multi-channel platforms, and enhanced scientific leadership). He also developed and established a new commercial model for MSD nationally; contributed to the development of new business models both regionally and globally (regional business support center and global diversified brands franchise at MSD).
Kai has been building and leading winning teams, thanks to his people management skills and abilities in identifying and developing top talent.
He holds a Doctorate in Medicine, an MBA from Northwestern, Kellogg School of Business (Chicago, USA) and a PHD in experimental research in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in diseases of the heart.
