China-Germany renewable energy entrepreneur
Startupbootcamp HighTech Eindhoven Mentor
Josh is an intellectual property lawyer and China-expert. He previously worked 6 years at Rouse, China’s top international IP practice, protecting brands and innovations for clients like Angry Birds, GlaxoSmithKline, the European Commission, and Semikron. He also served a term as Chairman of New Zealand’s chamber of commerce in China (KEA). In March 2013 he quit his job to walk across Spain and go trekking in the mountains of Europe, North America and Asia. He also returned to China and met with Chinese companies in search of a way to apply his experience to fighting the climate change already evident in all these places. Josh has now moved to Berlin to focus on the growing trade and investment between China and Germany in renewable energy and clean transportation technologies. He is passionate about China and looks forward to helping innovative businesses in smart transportation and energy navigate the opportunities and pitfalls China offers.
Josh was born to Kiwi and German parents and mainly grew up in New Zealand. He speaks fluent German and pretty decent mandarin. He is also rather good at imitating New Zealand native birds.
