n the first months of 2001 Guido Folonari, young heir to one of the most historic wine families in Italy, decided to develop a rather ambitious project tied to wine. In a short time, three distinctive wineries located in the most prestigious areas of Tuscany and Piedmont emerged into the Italian wine scenario, and were immediately acclaimed by the press as “the three Killer B’s” of Guido Folonari.
Behind these Italian Chateaux, there is tradition terroir and modern know-how, and each one of the estates shines for its uniqueness in representing the typical grapes of the denomination. For Guido Folonari and wine maker Piero Ballario, Tenuta L’Illuminata stands for Barolo and the delicate elegance of Nebbiolo grape, Tenuta San Giorgio embodies Brunello di Montalcino and the authentic character of noble Sangiovese, while Donna Olimpia 1898 renders opulent blends of Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot to Bolgheri’s perfection.
