Allard joined Velocity Capital Private Equity in 2011. Velocity is a Dutch based venture capital firm that focuses on early stage FinTech companies. Velocity has investments in Asia, Europe, and the US. Velocity has a hands-on investment philosophy, and actively seeks synergies between its portfolio companies. Velocity operates from a strong belief the financials services sector will truly be transformed in the coming decade, both in the developed world, and in the emerging markets. Velocity strives to be in the middle of that transformation. In his role at Velocity, Allard serves as non-exec Director on the Boards of Tradeking (US), 8 Securities (HK), Five Degrees (Netherlands), Cellulant (Kenya) and Meniga (Iceland).

In 2006, Allard co-founded, San Francisco based, online stock-broker Zecco. He served as COO of Zecco until 2010. Zecco merged with Tradeking and is now the 6th largest online broker in the US. Prior to Zecco, Allard was associate partner at the Dutch strategy-consulting firm Boer & Croon. Before Boer & Croon Allard was co-founder and CEO of TradingCars.com, an online B2B market place for the trade in new passenger cars. He also co-founded Wannahaves.nl, an online lifestyle platform in the Netherlands. Allard started his career at Gemini Consulting as a strategy consultant.

Allard holds a MSc Management degree from the London School of Economics. He also holds a MA Political Science and Philosophy from Leiden University.
