Member of the Management Board at TomTom
Startupbootcamp Smart City & IoT Amsterdam Mentor
In the 80’s, I was the (co-) founder of TeleAtlas, the digital mapping company which was acquired by TomTom in 2008. As such, I know what starting up and growing a new company means and how you can and should fight for the right to execute your “dream” and what all of this entails. Today, I am in the Management Board of TomTom and next to helping with the overall management of the group, the HR and IT departments report into me.
Top 3 Skills:
1. Combining the “rational” side of the business with the “emotional” side in order it to take effective decisions.
2. Strategic thinking.
3. Leadership for growth in challenging circumstances.
Having created what could easily be the “longest” start-up (almost 20 years of start-up conditions), I appreciate the challenges young entrepreneurs are facing and have deep respect for real entrepreneurs. As such, I still like very much the “start-up world” and if I can, based on my experience, contribute to making young entrepreneurs more successful, I take that opportunity. Up to the entrepreneurs to find out and decide if this is helpful.
