We are close to announcing the next batch of Startupbootcamp FinTech: acceleration program focused on early-stage FinTech startups. After a 4-month recruitment and an ambitious tour during which our team visited more than 10 cities, we are eager to present the startups that will attract great attention among the Fintech ecosystem in the region!
For the third year in a row, we will hold our great community event: Startupbootcamp FinTech Selections Days on September 17th and 19th. The event’s main objective is to get in-depth knowledge of the 20 best FinTech projects that applied to the program in order to choose our next cohort.
The path has been tough, but also fun. Thanks to this experience, we had the opportunity, once again, to evaluate the Fintech status in several latitudes, meet with the best early-stage talent and connect with dozens of industry mentors and experts, part of Finnovista’s network. Finnovista is the organization responsible for Startupbootcamp FinTech in Latin America.
During our recruitment process, we visited 10 innovation hubs in Latin America, Madrid and Miami, and connected with a significant number of FinTechs in the region, whom we invited to find out more about our program.
During the 4-month process, we have also connected with 296 startups from more than 15 different countries. Among the most representative are: Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, and Spain. We couldn’t be more glad about the results of this new cycle.
As we have done every year, when selecting the startups we considered factors such as team, market opportunity, product, and business models. But overall, we picked those which have a greater fit with our partners, and more possibilities to collaborate with: Visa, Scotiabank, HSBC Mexico, Banregio, IGNIA, Latinia, Fiinlab powered by Gentera, EY Mexico and White & Case.
Furthermore, this new batch will be led by Rafael Hernandez: a key player at the regional Fintech ecosystem which will help all the startups in the program to consolidate thanks to his extensive experience, both at the world of startups, entrepreneurship, as well as in some corporate financial companies.
Today, we are very keen to meet the next early-stage startups that will attract great attention in the coming years.
In these times of changes and challenges, we are working hard to outline the program content. We are preparing great workshops, speed datings with banks, investors and financial institutions, some 1:1 sessions with mentors from different areas such as investment, marketing, PR, legal, human resources, and team building and product development.
Opportunities in FinTech
The FinTech industry remains full of opportunities. As a sector, we are still adapting to the certainty that the Fintech Law has brought to Mexico. On the other hand, we are also aware of the strong competition entailed by the industry’s exponential growth.
And also we cannot ignore the increasing interest of venture capital firms, not only regional but also international, in FinTechs in Latin America.
What are the main goals of the startups that applied to our program? What are the steps they plan to take to consolidate themselves? What are their teams like? These are some of the questions that motivate us to keep working to fulfill the mission that brought Finnovista to Latin America in the first place, and subsequently, to choose Mexico as the city host for the first Startupbootcamp acceleration program in the region.
This is: to empower Fintech and Insurtech ecosystems in Latin America and Spain through a collaborative platform such as Startupbootcamp.
Stay tuned on our communication channels and join the conversation using the hashtag #sbcSelectionDays. This story is just beginning!
On the other hand, if you have a consolidated startup, do not hesitate to apply to our scale-up program. Find out more here: https://startupbootcamp.org/accelerator/scale-fintech-mexico-city/
