Startupbootcamp Commerce 2019 Cohort Secures Investment Over 1 Million EUR

29-May-2019

Amsterdam, 29 May 2019Startupbootcamp Amsterdam, the leading global startup growth program organized its Commerce Accelerator Demo Day on the 28th of May 2019. Twelve startups, with founders from 9 different nationalities (Netherlands, Italy, UK, Finland, Germany, Ukraine, and Brazil amongst others), pitched the results of the three months of acceleration to an audience of 250 commerce experts, investors and corporate partners at the headquarters of Rabobank in Utrecht. So far, the startups already raised commitments of more than 1 million euro during the program.

The journey of the 12 teams started in February when they were selected out of 417 applicants worldwide from 51 countries. Throughout the program in Amsterdam, the teams were mentored by a network of leading executives and investors, and received support from Startupbootcamp Commerce program partners, such as AWS, PwC, America Today, Capgemini, Ingenico, Typeqast, and Rabobank, as well as exposure at the major conferences – The Next Web Amsterdam and VivaTech Paris.

For the startups, Demo Day is an excellent platform for big announcements. Several companies announced that they had acquired new customers and partners:

“We really enjoyed our time during the Startupbootcamp Commerce program. For the last 3 months, the SBC team has made valuable introductions to experts in the industry, and we’re one step closer to launching in Europe. We were also able to double our revenue in this period. Our team is looking forward to a fruitful collaboration way past the program.” (Waitrr, Singapore)

“Startupbootcamp is a great way to get out of your startup bubble, to see things differently, and implement in 3 months what you would otherwise do in a year.” (We Are Eves, Netherlands)

“We came to Startupbootcamp with a solid solution, rapidly growing with 30K loyal users already. Three months later, we are very grateful we gave it a chance. We’ve been surrounded by great people and engaged professionals that were supporting our success above all.”  (Stripo, USA)

Ernst Hoestra, Investor and Managing Director of the Startupbootcamp Commerce program, commented: “We’re really proud of our 12 startups and what they have achieved in the past 3-months. We continue to support female and international founders and put on even more importance on diversity, inclusion, and continuous growth of their businesses both during and after the program.”

He further explained: “This year we have a cohort representing nationalities from all over the globe, from China to the USA, Ukraine to Finland. We see that an emerging Brexit drove some of the teams across the channel, we also have several teams that actually support other startups with their service offering, which is then helping to create a stronger ecosystem. Finally, we have seen the teams have already created traction and impact, winning hackathons, pitch contests, got invited to the largest global conferences, and signed deals with clients and investors.“

All 11 startups from the Startupbootcamp Commerce cohort last year, are still in business, raised almost 5 million and realized nearly 20 million worth of committed business, while teams grew by almost 3x times.

The startups will continue to be supported by the Startupbootcamp Global Alumni growth program, which connects close to 800 startups worldwide.
