Startupbootcamp Pride FinTech Cairo, the first of its kind FinTech accelerator in Egypt, has selected earlier this week the top 10 startups for their first cohort.
20 shortlisted FinTech startups were chosen from a pool of 100+ applications. They competed for a chance to secure a spot in the first cycle. The cohort was selected after an intensive evaluation and selection process. During the selection day, each team participated in one to one sessions where they exchanged knowledge, and discussed business opportunities, with a great lineup of mentors and partners.
Teams pitched their ideas in front of a panel of industry experts including representatives from Startupbootcamp Pride FinTech Cairo’s program partners: Alex Bank, EBE, Pharos, Visa, Ayady, and GIZ.
Winners will now go through an intensive 3-month acceleration and training program which will kick off on the first week of February. In addition to the acceleration program, Startupbootcamp will be supporting the startups to scale their products in collaboration with the program’s partners during a three-month Proof of Concept phase.
The accelerator will provide teams with 450,000 EGP in funding, access to exclusive startup expertise and services, 6 months of office space at The Greek Campus, and access to Startupbootcamp’s global network of highly-qualified mentors, angels, and VCs.
Ahmed Elsherif, Managing Director for FinTech Cairo comments: “In such a short amount of time, we have managed to select our first ever cohort of 10 FinTech startups with clear value propositions across a diversified range of areas within microfinance, payments, p2p lending, consumer banking, and identity authentication. This is a real testament to the potential of the FinTech and Financial Inclusion landscape in Egypt, which demonstrates the scalability of the impact that we can drive altogether in collaboration with our partners”
Stay tuned to the official announcement of Startupbootcamp Pride FinTech Cairo’s first cohort of 10 selected startups, who, in collaboration with our program partners, will be shaping and scaling the Financial Inclusion and FinTech landscape in Egypt.
