BNP Paribas and Startupbootcamp Hosts Paris FastTrack to source Top Startup Talent to scale into their Global Markets

The Paris FastTrack on 16 May presents a rare opportunity for European tech-enabled high-potential startups to interface with an elite group of executives and best-in-business industry experts and investors to present market ready innovative solutions for scaling into local and international markets.

BNP Paribas Personal Finance and it’s African subsidiary BNP Paribas Personal Finance South Africa, trading as RCS, part of BNP Paribas, one of the largest banks in Europe in partnership with global accelerator Startupbootcamp, is hitting the doorstep of Paris, France in search of disruptive, scalable startups with solutions that are either market ready or have global deployment potential.

Startupbootcamp (SBC)is a global family of 20+ industry-focused programs that support startups with direct access to an international network of the most relevant mentors, partners and investors to help them scale. In this instance, for the first time ever, startups will have direct access and one-on-one mentorship from the top executives of BNP Paribas Personal Finance at the Paris FastTrackevent on 16 May 2018.

These globally renowned corporate leaders have scaled multiple businesses across the globe from ideation stage startups through to market-ready solutions. In partnership with the SBC global network, they jointly provide rapid support for product and business refinement alongside real, tangible market access.

The Paris FastTrack follows a worldwide scouting tour and the focus from the Startupbootcampteam will be to select startups that evidence market relevance, solve intractable business problems, and are backed by ambitious founders with a drive to scale for impact.

Previous Startupbootcamp Accelerator successes include:

  • Total funding of Euros 331m
  • SBC Africa 2017 launch resulted in a record of 32 signed corporate agreements and proofs-of-concept for the cohort.
  • PentaBank – The bank account for startups and SMEs

Program: FinTech, LON

Year: 2016

Funding: €2,200,000

Penta offers a digital bank account targeting startups and SMEs. The offering is designed to meet all of the banking needs of small to medium-sized businesses, including startups.

Penta partnered with solarisBank to offer businesses fast access to bank accounts. Penta’s difference to other digital contenders is that Penta only offers third-party products like automated accounting, low-cost international transfers, cash-flow management and more

“For networks, we have the largest in the world with 150+ mentors in every city, which every startup in every city can make use of. This is an ecosystem where all alumni and all startups become part of a lifetime support system of targeted connections, hands-on commercial and fundraising support, and events that bring together the 2000 strong Startupbootcamp alumni community.”

Natacha Baumann, Regional Head of Innovation and Transformation for BNP Paribas Personal Finance states: “All our entities in Europe are looking into what solutions we can grow within our global company but can also take to our new markets. Engaging with us now is a good time – it is a way for the startups to find a market in Europe and for bolder European startups to find a market in Africa. It’s really a win-win situation where you gain access to the large BNP Paribas global network but also potentially targeted access into Africa, the fastest growing market in the world, via the Startupbootcamp programme and RCS.”

The United Nations predicts that between now and the end of the century, the population’s growth is estimated to grow from 7.2 billion today to 11.2 billion. Of that increase of 4 billion, 90% of the population growth will be in Africa, shifting from 1.1 billion to about 4 billion.

Philip Kiracofe, co-founder and CEO of SBC Africa explains: “When you think about an increase of that magnitude, it requires disruption across every element of life. Every aspect of life will need to be fundamentally transformed, there’s no hope for incremental growth, it’s going to have to scale massively. Here, what we’re finding is startups that are scaling all manner of things that elsewhere are just assumed to be commonplace – and that’s what’s super exciting for us – is that we can find massively scalable disruptive, transformative technologies and solutions to elements including blockchain, agriculture, chat commerce, water, food, digital identity, clothing, roads, and infrastructure. We’re seeing and actively searching for disruption across every element of life – and that’s one of the things that makes the Africa program so unique.”

The powerful partnership with BNP Paribas Personal Finance and Startupbootcamp brings an exclusive opportunity to the best and brightest innovators in the world to pioneer more rapidly and create enduring value globally.
