From 500 international applicants, Startupbootcamp Amsterdam selects the 10 best startups to participate in the three-month innovation growth program in Amsterdam
Amsterdam, 18 January 2018 – Startupbootcamp Commerce, the leading global startup accelerator focusing on E-Commerce and Retail Industry, has kicked-off their 2018 program with two exciting selection days.
The Netherlands has attracted the attention of a lot of international startups within the Commerce industry. The country is home to prominent commerce companies like Ahold, Takeaway.com, Coolblue, and Booking.com, and has world-class skills in consumer-focused innovation. As a result, foreign startups seek to come to Amsterdam to accelerate their growth and validate their business propositions before scaling on a global level.
18 startups from all over the world (including UAE, Pakistan, UK, Denmark, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Belgium, Ukraine, Turkey, Latvia, Slovenia, and Poland) have taken part in Selection Days on 16th and 17th of January at B. Amsterdam coworking space. They went through a vigorous screening and evaluation process in front of over a hundred mentors and partners of Startupbootcamp. The top 18 companies were chosen out of 500 international applications. During a 4-month selection process, they were thoroughly screened. This included pitching to program partners, mentor feedback sessions and a lot of Skype calls. It gave the startups the chance to showcase their products, services, and solutions that will enhance commerce and retail innovation.
The selected teams will now go through an intense 3-month acceleration program of workshops, one-to-one sessions and events, starting off on 19th of February and ending with the Demo Day in front of hundreds of startup and tech influencers, mentors, partners, and investors on 17th of May 2018. They will be mentored by a network of entrepreneurs, top executives, and investors, and will have access to leading commerce companies in the Netherlands to validate and scale further. They will receive free office space, €15K seed money and support from Startupbootcamp partners, such as Amazon, Cisco, Ahold Delhaize, PwC, America Today and Rabobank, as well as over €500.000 in partners service and access to a network of Angels and VCs internationally for potential further investment opportunities.
Selected teams for 2018 cohort are:
Ernst Hoestra, Managing Director of the Commerce program commented: “Retail sector represents one of the essential drivers for the Dutch and European economy. The selected teams are on the verge of some of the most exciting areas of commerce growth and innovation. At the same time, we’re also glad to be supporting more female and emerging market founders.“
Hoestra also emphasized the importance of corporate startup collaboration supporting this innovation: “Our accelerator program is a great example of how we bring together the industry and tech startups and guide the process of corporate startup collaboration. We offer our partners the opportunity to combine their deep expertise in the commerce industry with agile companies offering exciting new ideas. Together we can provide novel solutions for the commerce industry of the future.”
After graduating from the program in May, the startups will put their names in the spotlight of the Commerce sector and join in the Startupbootcamp Global Alumni growth program, which connects close to 600 startups worldwide.
