- DSOA, Smart Dubai, du, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rochester Institute of Technology, Orange Business Services and Visa partner in initiative in line with Dubai’s ambition to emerge as ‘Smartest City in the World’
Dubai, 31 May 2017 – Startupbootcamp, the global family of industry-focused accelerator programs, has announced the launch of a Dubai-based Smart City program in an effort to support the city’s vision to become a world leader in smart technologies.
Startupbootcamp Smart City Dubai program will aim to accelerate 40 innovative startups working in the fields of IoT and connectivity, urban automation and smart transportation, open city data, sustainable cities and living, smart government, and smart retail. Applications will be open to MENA based startups and startups from all over the world.
Joining forces with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), Dubai’s integrated free zone technology park, as well as Smart Dubai Office, Dubai Chambers, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du), Visa, Orange Business Services, Rochester Institute of Technology – New York and Rochester Institute of Technology – New York, the program is open for applications today.
In line with the mission and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the happiest and smartest city on earth by 2021, the partners have committed to support the Dubai Smart City Accelerator, the first of its kind in the Middle East, that will be run by Startupbootcamp
Designed to empower 10 promising startups each cohort, Startupbootcamp Smart City Dubai will provide the startups with office space in Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre (DTEC), a wholly owned technology incubator by DSOA and the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Startups will get mentoring from high profile industry experts, access to corporate partners in addition to a US $20,000 capital investment, as well as access to Startupbootcamp’s global network of mentors, investors, and VCs.
The program is led by Todd OBrien, who has extensive knowledge in sales, marketing and developing technology companies with more than 20 years experience. Startupbootcamp Smart City Dubai team will be hosting a series of FastTrack events in different cities within the Middle East as well as international cities such as New Delhi, Austin, Cape Town, Singapore and more in the next two months in order to give different startups the chance to present their ideas and to know more about the program.
