One of our favorite parts of the year is meeting the top 20 teams that applied to Startupbootcamp Smart Transportation & Energy at Selection Days. For three intense days, the startups are evaluated on their potential to thrive at Startupbootcamp – and the competition to secure a spot was at its highest.
For the third year in a row, the number of applications to the accelerator increased. The accelerator received applications from over 58 countries. The majority of startups originated from Germany, followed closely by Israel, the UK, Russia, and India. In terms of funding, 36 percent of applicants had raised money previously. Of those that had already raised money, the average funding amount was €384,000.
When it came time to decide on the final ten startups, our team together with Startupbootcamp Smart Transportation & Energy mentors and partners could not decide on just ten. We are proud to announce that twelve startups from seven countries make up the 2017 accelerator batch. Popular technology trends represented by the startups include machine learning, big data, and artificial intelligence.
