How do you imagine The City Of Tomorrow? Every day at the Startupbootcamp Smart City & Living accelerator in Amsterdam, working side by side with top-notch startups, we see how new ideas and new opportunities are born that can help build the world we want to live in. We see that innovation empowers radical changes in the way we communicate, commute and share things. We imagine the future where each one of us can make an impact on the environment and the society; a world where big corporations work together with people on creating and innovating.
That is why we support the most ambitious and hungry startups out there that can make that future happen today. Out of more than 300 applications from across the globe, we have selected 10 companies from 7 countries focusing on the various areas of Smart City & Living industry – airport safety, IoT, smart care, parking solutions, experience advertising and more. They have started their accelerator journey in April, and have been working non-stop on their strategy, business model, product market fit, team, pitch, and everything else you can imagine. For 3 months they have received intensive support and advice from our mentors and partners and have taken their companies from product stage to more scalable and investment-ready businesses. On the 8th of July, they were ready to present the results at Demo Day!
The venue for the event was a great fit for The City Of Tomorrow theme – the industrial look of De Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North created an inspiring and futuristic atmosphere. More than 400 people including investors, mentors, partners and alumni came to experience The City Of Tomorrow and celebrate the end of the accelerator roller coaster.
It all kicked off with Herman Tange, Tribe Lead Business Banking at our partner and sponsor ING, welcoming the guests on stage.
Co-founder of Startupbootcamp Patrick de Zeeuw invited a very special guest for a Fireside Chat – Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands! As StartupDelta has recently announced, Prince Constantijn has succeeded Neelie Kroes on the 1st of July 2016 as special startup envoy for the next 18 months.
Then Sal Matteis, Managing Director of the program, talked about the history of innovation and its future.
After that, it was all about the pitches. We were very proud of the 10 startups that went on stage and shared the results of their 3-month accelerator journey:

We can’t believe how fast the time with the 2016 Accelerator Cohort passed. Sessions, meetings, workshops, brainstorms, pitch practices, gatherings, and parties – we’ve experienced all of it together. It was truly unforgettable. To share a part of this life-changing (for both us and the startups) journey, we created this 1 Second A Day video where we captured a moment of every day of the program starting from Selection Days and ending with Demo Day:
