AGILE

Internet of Things (IoT) represents the next evolution of the Internet, taking a huge leap in its ability to gather, analyse, and distribute data that we can turn into information, knowledge, and, ultimately, wisdom. It is rapidly evolving to be a rich ecosystem of products and services that opens up enormous new opportunities for business. It is thus the need of the hour to make sense of this growing landscape, develop new offers and shape one’s strategy accordingly.

With an aim to tap this next big thing that is disrupting all possible industries, Startupbootcamp has been selected to join the AGILE (Adaptive Gateways for Diverse Multiple Environments) project funded by the European Commission, for the Horizon 2020 ICT30 Research and Innovation program. This project aims to develop the software and hardware required to build modular gateway solutions for managing the devices and data in IoT solutions. It will support the local management of devices, data, app development, and runtime, and include security features that allow users to share data in a trusted way. The AGILE technology will be based on existing open source projects and create new open source technology to complete the solution. The project will also feature the integration of an IoT apps Marketplace to help facilitate a diverse ecosystem of extensions and plugins. Finally, AGILE will be used in five diverse Pilots in various domains (QuantifiedSelf, Smart Retails, Open Air monitoring using Drones, etc.) and be supported by an IoT Testbed, featuring more than 2500 sensors, to facilitate testing of IoT solutions.

As a leading global startup accelerator with a focus on Internet of Things & Data Tech, Startupbootcamp will enable a smooth technology transfer through open call management with an overall aim to analyse the potential impact of the project. It will play a key role in promoting the call to its worldwide network of startups, IoT Working Groups and the larger Development community. With its sound experience in innovation and startup creation, Startupbootcamp will also play a key role in attracting Investors-Venture Capitalists, Business Angels, Banks.

In addition, Startupbootcamp will contribute actively in the project dissemination through the planning, delivering and participation in workshops, scientific, developer and/or innovation-market exploitation/startup events, besides helping develop training material for AGILE users.

The AGILE project will be spread over three years and includes a consortium of 17 organizations, including CREATE-NET (Italy), iMinds VZW(Belgium), Eclipse Foundation Europe GmbH (Germany), ATOS Spain SA (Spain), Canonical Group Limited (United Kingdom), Rulemotion Ltd (United Kingdom), Jolocom UG (Germany), Universität Passau (Germany), Sky-Watch (Denmark), BioAssist SA (Greece), MOBISTAR SA (Belgium), Startupbootcamp (Spain), Technische Universität Graz (Austria), INRIA (France), EUROTECH SPA (Italy), Libelium (Spain), and IoTango S.A.
