Each year, a group of 10 companies is selected to participate in the competitive Smart City & Living Program in Amsterdam. This edition, eleven startups are part of the acceleration process that starts today. Over the next three years, the participating teams will receive coaching from dedicated mentors from the Schiphol Group. There is a lot to be gained for the startups, as they can learn from the knowledge of the Schiphol mentors on smart logistics and energy flows. The infrastructure in and around the airport is very extensive and crucial for the functioning of the organization.
The cooperation is also important for the Schiphol Group. Startups are known for their innovation capacity and speed. Schiphol can learn from them, said Robert Lenterman, Director Treasury & Risk Management at the Schiphol Group: “Schiphol aims to be the best digital airport in the world. To achieve this, we want to learn as much as we can from the knowledge and skills of innovators in the world around us. Startupbootcamp has a good reputation and is able to select startups that will be successful in the long term. We expect that the innovative ideas and energy of startups will inspire us and help us continue to best serve our customers. We look forward to this cooperation.”
Patrick de Zeeuw, co-founder of Startupbootcamp is proud of this partnership: “The fact that a large international and complex organization such as Schiphol will coach our Smart City & Living companies, is very good news for startups, Startupbootcamp and the Schiphol Group itself. The experts at Schiphol have knowledge of and experience with smart solutions in the areas of mobility, spatial planning and energy. This gives young companies a better understanding of the potential applications and ‘marketization of their innovations’.
