Amsterdam is a place that breathes innovation. With the help of the government, sustainable initiatives and hundreds of social startups it is quickly moving towards becoming a truly Smart City. We are proud to support an important mission of making the Dutch capital greener and more sustainable with our Smart City & Living accelerator. Today, one month prior to the program kickoff, we are happy to introduce the 10 eager companies we have selected to join the Smart City & Living 2016 Accelerator Cohort!
The teams had to go through an extensive selection process to join our program. To meet as many innovative companies as possible, we ran an international tour of 17 FastTracks lead by our #FlyingSegman Marc Wesselink in 13 cities across the globe. We received more than 350 applications from 42 countries. Over the last month, we held countless offline and online meetings to narrow that list down to the 19 startups who were invited for Final Selection Days in Amsterdam on 8-9 March. These promising companies were ranging from Smart Retail and Smart Energy to IoT and Urban Planning. We love to see such diversity!

Two intensive selection days were an extremely valuable experience, not only for the 10 selected startups, but to all the teams invited. They pitched their businesses to a crowd of 150 mentors, investors and partners, and participated in numerous mentor sessions. The goal of our industry specialists was to put the product, the business model and the team of each company under the microscope.

By the end of the second day, we knew which companies have what it takes to enter our crazy accelerator roller coaster. One by one, the names of the finalists were announced. It was an intense and emotional moment for each team and their supporters!
