The Real Startupbootcamp Experience- SBC E- & Mcommerce- Week 4

21-Nov-2014 by Anna-MariaChatzidaki

This blog marks the end of the first month into the Startupbootcamp E- & Mcommerce Program. Workshops, Thematic Mentor Sessions and Amsterdam eWeek were on the menu for Week 4.

Co-founder of Startupbootcamp South Africa, Karolin Kruiskamp, gave the first workshop of the week talking about team building & organizational structures. With more than 20 years of experience in organizing companies in many different fields of business and as co-founder of a Management Consultant Office she designed her first methods on co-operation issues between multiple companies and coached young entrepreneurs. Karolin was here to brief the startups in her “new-economy honeycomb-network organization” and help the founders in translating all kinds of problems into a process that scale up their organisation.

The first Thematic Mentor Sessions of the program took place as well, with a focus on Marketing. Joris Aperghis, Jacha van den Dungen, Niki van Wijk, Yvonne Prins and Olivier Karg, all Marketing experts, dedicated an entire day to brainstorm with each one of our teams separately on their target groups, proposition, positioning, online strategy, social, branding, channels etc.

UX/ UI expert Anna Noyons was also in the house to share insights on the possible ways to reflect your vision and strategy on the product and user-product interactions. Next to that, Harald Swinkels the Founder and CEO of NL Energie gave a very inspiring session on Leadership. Being a successful entrepreneur himself, he shared his story and biggest learnings on being a leader with our CEO’s; the pitfalls to avoid when you create and manage a business.

The same week was also Amsterdam eWeek with many of our startups attending events such as eDay. During these events, they were interviewed by Hans Voorn of and the videos are now available for you to watch online. The interviews will also be published on the Emerce website so stay tuned for more.

In cooperation with Amsterdam eWeek, we hosted NewCo in our office on an open conference event with about 40 people visiting our HQ to find out more about Startupbootcamp. We were very happy to meet all those curious about entrepreneurship, acceleration and innovation persons and listen to their feedback and remarks.

The week was completed by an amazing Inspiration Session given by Content Marketing Guru himself, Cor Hospes. He shared the core values of Content Marketing and made our startups realize that nowadays, a product is not enough. Businesses need to tell a story; a story that is worth to be shared with the consumers, a story that differentiates a product from the rest and makes it stand out of the crowd.

Coming up next, week 5 included workshops on HR & Recruiting, International Growth Management, Pitching and Online Marketing. Most of our startups were particularly excited about the Google Day we organized for them; a day spent at Google’s HQ in the Netherlands. Stay tuned to learn all about it in next week’s recap blog.
