Startupbootcamp Berlin recently held a special pitch day event in Bangalore in partnership Bosch India. The winning team, Cubito, will receive an all-expense paid 2-week behind the scenes of our acceleration program here in Berlin! Bosch India already works with Startups globally through its New business Initiatives (NBT) program and this is another step towards continuing & growing its engagement with the ecosystem. On our global quest of connecting with innovative ecosystems, I had the honor of spending my first week at Startupbootcamp Berlin by travelling to Bangalore (my first trip to India). What a great induction adventure!
Aside from being awed by the hustle and bustle, traffic and perpetual honking in this vast city, I am also humbled by the beautiful people and intense diversity all around.
In cooperation with our partner Bosch, I set out on a mission to meet some of the most promising startups in the field of Smart Transportation and Energy. 12 Startups and 23 Mentors (mostly high-profile investors) assembled at the ultra-hip Counterculture Club to begin the morning with short pitching sessions, followed by intensive deep dives in mentor rotations. German as I am, I intended to follow a rather well planned out schedule (or so I thought) and quickly learned, that time sometimes has a different meaning here in India. Relinquishing to the natural flow (and slight chaos) of the event, we ended up unanimously selecting a winning team, surprisingly pretty much on schedule.
Cubito is a cloud-based SaaS company, providing end-to-end transportation solutions for Enterprises in India. For those of you who have travelled here, you understand the immense challenges that commuting brings to urban India. Per day, an average MNC enterprise travel desk team spends up to 200 man hours, produces 700 trip sheets, makes 3500 phone calls and utilizes 200 Vehicles just to manage their employee transportation. Cubito’s algorithm solves all these problems by offering automated routing, tracking, billing, call center, fleet services and alerts. With Dell as their first customer, they are continuously adding new clients.
The founders will be joining the program in Berlin for 2 weeks in the Fall, where they will benefit from the immersion into the local ecosystem of mentors, investors and participating startups.
