The kickoff of the 1st SBC Istanbul accelerator program is a fact.

After recently joining the SBC Istanbul team it was great to see how the startups even in 1 week evolved form spectator to co-worker. Coming from Belgium and living and working here for 1,5 year the biggest hurdle is of course the language. Getting adapted to the culture and habits wasn’t a big deal as I could easily let go my old ones. Integration, or however you want to call it, starts with letting lose and except the new. Connecting with the team here went seamlessly and the same happened with the startups. Wherever and whenever you want to reach something in life the key factor is always execution. And this is no different in this program. The startups are eager to go to the next step in what they want to achieve although the first part of the program is a lot about learning and assimilating. Lean startup is an important part of the program and it was great to see how they all got more enthusiast. The more insights in what you are doing the better you can cope with the challenges.

We are very fortunate to be present at the Bahcesehir University and sharing the premises with students, young entrepreneurs and mentors. A melting pot that is even better than all the clichés you have heard before. I will not elaborate on the view we have here which is grand. An extra motivator if you needed it. The cherry I would call it. But most important is the quick access to knowledge and experience. A must in the program and a must to acquire success.

The most striking after this first week was the fact that the teams started to exchange their ideas and comments among each other so quickly. While in the beginning you only saw glaring eyes, now they were helping each other. That became even clearer during the validation evaluation. The engagement was great to experience. Suddenly you have a huge team in full coworking and cocreation modus. One can only be grateful when that happens, as all is personal, thus emotional based. This all looks very promising and although all parties are in need to go through a lot of learning’s, the sharing makes the goals more reachable. Cannot wait for the next weeks to experience what will happen next.
