Since launching in 2010, it’s hard to believe how quickly Startupbootcamp has grown. From humble beginnings of a single accelerator in Copenhagen to now 8 programs across most of Europe and the Middle East – in a little over 3 years we’ve accomplished a lot. But there’s still a long journey ahead in our quest to provide massive amounts of support to the world’s greatest startups.
As many startups are keenly aware, scaling doesn’t occur in a straight line. Battles are won and lost, new competitors enter and fail, server crash, founders quit.
In late January a Startupbootcamp growth spurt took place – with the first ever Alumni Summit. It was about time! With 123 portfolio companies spread across the globe, the amount of knowledge held in the Startupbootcamp ecosystem is incredible.
Bring this 123-company, 2000 mentor, and 8 program startup ecosystem together with 2 days of masterclasses from many of Europe’s top thought leaders – and something special happens (to say the least). Add to this 40 leading brands and investors and the energy is enough to move mountains!
On the first day the teams had workshops about content marketing given by Rob Fitzpatrick (Founder Centric), Enterprise Sales by Bindi Karia (Silicon Valley Bank) and how pitch to the press by Mike Butcher (TechCrunch). On the second half of the day the teams took part in speed networking meetings with representatives from brands like Tesco, Unilever, Facebook, Red Bull, Tesco, among many others. It was a day full of learning!
On the last day of the Summit on Jan 24 the teams joined workshops about international sales by Scott Schnaars (Badgeville), got insights from a successful entrepreneur and investor – Tim Jackson (Lean Investment) – and also attended a workshop about fundraising by Jordan Schlipf (Founder Centric). On the afternoon the alumni met with 20+ VCs, like Union Square Ventures, Accel, Index, MMC and many more. In the end of the day everyone gathered for a last drink and networking after two full awesome days!
I collected the slides presented on the summit, which we could share online, in our slideshare account. Great material and worth to study!
A special thank for the speakers for sharing their knowledge with our starups, Thank you! And finally a great recognition for our sponsor & partners (Silicon Valley Bank, Castrol & Rainmaking Loft) for believing in us to organize the first Alumni Summit!
