For the second year in a row a Startupbootcamp team won the Startup Challenge at the prestigious Pioneers Festival in Vienna. Following the success from last year’s winner Poikos, Startupbootcamp Berlin team Babywatch took home the prize this year. Over 850 startups from all over the world applied to pitch at the festival. Only eight of them made it through the rigorous selection process of the jury and got to pitch on the big stage.
Babywatch developed a hardware device and a smartphone application which allows parents to monitor their unborn baby’s heartbeat. When asked what her biggest challenge was at the moment, Urška Sršen, CEO of Babywatch, replied: “Too many orders”. Babywatch generated a revenue of more than $100k in October. By the end of the year they expect a revenue of $1million of sold devices. This demand from the consumer side was what convinced the jury in the end.
