Tuesday, April 2nd, was a great day for Startupbootcamp Amsterdam, as we have been actively preparing for it for the past months. It was absolutely amazing to come into the office early in the morning and see all the enthusiastic teams. Wow, such powerful energy from the very first day!
Although they were ready to take full charge, we decided to make it a day of introductions in which to explain the program in a more detailed manner but to also give the startups a chance to get to know each other. Each team gave a short presentation about whom they are and why they are here, while Patrick explained the essence of Startupbootcamp, the next steps and what is crucial in the program. Since Startupbootcamp Amsterdam is itself a startup, we learn new lessons every day, including from our mistakes! The startups were therefore encouraged by Ruud and Patrick to turn every moment here into a learning process. And because it is never too early and we have only 86 days to go, we decided to bring out the videos from Demo Day 2012 to show the teams what a real pitch is all about and what the future has in store for them.
Because we truly believe that we can make use each of their ideas personally, we took advantage of this opportunity to already test out Presentain on the basis of a QR code. Mentor Mathys van Abbe also used Presentain to introduce us to MobyPicture, an easier way to share your story on social platforms, but also learn from it and create a social ecosystem. Startupbootcamp Amsterdam is now a proud user of this platform and it is an absolute life saver!
Throughout the day we had some great speakers who discussed their role in the program and their future involvement with the teams. We are very happy that as of this year, Kees van Nunen, lean evangelist, startup addict and firestarter, will be in the program full time to teach the startups about the lean startup methodology. To prove that we take things very seriously here, Kees has already given the startups homework in order to understand their process so far and establish future steps for their growth. Besides Kees, great lessons were also learned from the media expert Jonathan Marks, Marc Wesselink, Alumni Growth program director and our colleagues from Eindhoven HighTech .
To make this short, another round of congratulations is in order for our startups 7write, AliveShoes, Fuel, iLost, Kinems, Presentain, Swogo, Teach’n’Go and Twoodo. It is going to be an amazing journey with tons of lessons to be learned!
