Cooperation expands the resources available to the Berlin start-up accelerator

Berlin, May 14, 2012 – Startupbootcamp Berlin, the German branch of the Pan-European startup accelerator program, welcomes Drive Now as a new partner. Drive Now will provide the ten startups accepted into Startupbootcamp Berlin with full access to its car-sharing network. The network is available in Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf and can be used via an innovative mobile application for iPhone and Android smartphones. Each of the ten startups will be able to use the network free of charge for 500 minutes every of the three month of the program.

DriveNow is a car-sharing joint venture between BMW Group and Sixt AG. BMW Group provides the vehicles and technologies and Sixt AG provides the leasing expertise and a nationwide network for customers to book the vehicles. An essential feature: DriveNow is independent of defined stations for renting and parking. Vehicles can be rented and returned everywhere. With the launch of Munich in June 2011 and Berlin in September 2011 Düsseldorf in January 2012 was the third city to feature this service.

Alex Farcet, Managing Director of Startupbootcamp Berlin, is excited about the partnership with Drive Now as it allows the Berlin group of startups to discover the newest startup city in Germany in a whole new way. “Startupbootcamp is always on the look-out for great deals for our startups. Partnering with BMW’s and SIXT´s DriveNow program is tremendous for our startups in several ways: firstly they get to move around Berlin as they tap into our mentor network and the wider ecosystem. Secondly, DriveNow is a really interesting case study of collaberative consumption which some of our entrepreneurs may get very inspired by.

Andreas Kottmann, Managing Director of DriveNow says: “The idea of DriveNow is based on Innovation, Lifestyle and Creativity. Since that concept perfectly fits to Berlin and especially to young startups we are glad to support Startupbootcamp with our service.”

About Drive Now

DriveNow is a car-sharing joint venture between the BMW Group and Sixt AG. Each of the two companies holds a 50% stake in the joint venture. While the BMW Group provides the vehicles and vehicle technologies, Sixt AG offers premium services, car rental expertise, IT systems and a comprehensive customer registration network. DriveNow has been operating its state-of-the-art mobility service in Munich since June 2011. It also launched operations in Berlin and Düsseldorf in September 2011 and January 2012 respectively.
