Startupbootcamp launches in Dublin, Ireland

We are proud to announce the addition of Dublin to our European network of accelerator programmes. Startupbootcamp Dublin will join as the third city to create a pan-European network of over 150 experienced entrepreneurs, investors and business angels who will bring their experience to enable and support the creation of 30 early stage technology companies per year.

We met Eoghan Jennings and his partners a short while ago and were immediately blown away by their caliber and the ambition of their plans for an accelerator in Dublin.  Eoghan was an early employee at XING and was the CFO when they IPO’ed in 2006.  He’s an active angel investor, super connected on both sides of the Atlantic and has deep operational startup experience.

We are really excited about adding Dublin, not only because it expands and strengthens our network, but also because the Dublin program will feature a unique collaboration of partners brought together for the first time. Among others, IBM, Dublin City Council, Enterprise Ireland and RDIL (Citi’s only dedicated R&D centre in the world) have all agreed to join as partners to the Startupbootcamp Dublin program.  One of the focus areas will be to promote the application and commercialization of technologies that make urban systems more connected, sustainable and intelligent.

Startupbootcamp will be launching in Ireland to take advantage of the vibrant technology ecosystem and the close links to the US tech sector as exemplified by Google, Facebook, Zynga, and IBM who have attracted talent from across Europe to live and work in Ireland.

Applications for the first Dublin accelerator program will begin summer 2011 and the program is likely to first run in early 2012.  In the meantime, applications for the Madrid program are now open until May 15th.
