Why is Amsterdam a Great Startup City
The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is home to a very well developed creative industry and has an excellent digital infrastructure that draws many ICT firms to the area. Amsterdam has been named as the world’s fifth “smartest” city by Forbes magazine. According to the magazine today’s ‘smart cities’ tend to be smaller, compact and more efficient and are for those reasons more attractive to do business.

Bigger cities like New York or London suffer from “congenital congestion, out-of-control real estate prices and expanding income disparities”. Amongst other factors Amsterdam has a long-standing financial & trading capital (it is home to seven of the world’s top 500 companies, including Philips and ING), has relatively low corporate taxes & income taxes for foreign workers, Amsterdam’s population is well-educated, multilingual and the city lacks political corruption. Holland’s socially progressive attitude has made Amsterdam a thriving tech hub; Wired magazine named the city as one of the main digital capitals in the world and the hottest place in Europe for tech start-ups.

Why multiple cities?
Building a European network of accelerators will benefit the Startupbootcamp teams who will get access to mentors and investors with diverse backgrounds and networks.
We believe startups need a platform for wider exposure to the entire European market in order to effectively scale their businesses.
We want to bridge startup communities, bringing together startups, mentors and investors from all across the region.
